Bangladeshi youth killed by brother in Italy; suspect confesses over video call
The victim was stabbed to death.
A dispute between two Bangladeshi expatriate brothers in Italy has ended in a tragic murder, with the elder brother allegedly stabbing the younger to death and later confessing the crime during a video call with family members back home.
The victim, Noyon Sheikh, 21, and the accused, Humayun Sheikh, 27, are sons of Delowar Sheikh from Sonarang area of Tongibari upazila in Munshiganj.
Officer-in-Charge of Tongibari Police Station, Monirul Islam Dabolu, said they have learned that the killing occurred due to a family dispute. He added that the victim's wife had previously filed a complaint over family issues.
According to family sources, the incident took place around 8pm local time on Wednesday (29 April) in Lecce, Italy. An argument broke out between the two brothers over a family matter, which escalated into violence. At one point, Humayun Sheikh allegedly attacked his younger brother with a sharp weapon, causing multiple injuries that led to his death on the spot.
Following the incident, the accused reportedly contacted family members in Bangladesh via video call. During the call, he showed the bloodied body of Noyon and admitted to carrying out the killing. This shocking scene left family members devastated and in tears.
Italian police later launched an operation and arrested the accused, according to sources.
