The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched an investigation into the widely discussed white stone looting and financial irregularities in Bholaganj, Sylhet, after preliminary evidence linked at least 42 politicians and government officials to the case.
ACC Director General Md Akhtar Hossain confirmed the matter, telling reporters that the commission decided to proceed with an investigation after establishing initial veracity during the operation.
According to ACC sources, the decision for a public probe was made during a commission meeting today (3 September), following a proposal to initiate the inquiry.

Reports indicate that those implicated in the stone looting include leaders and activists from various political parties, including BNP, Jamaat, NCP, and the Awami League. The report also highlights administrative negligence and complicity from security forces.
The ACC Director General noted that the extent of the crimes and the nature of individuals' involvement will be carefully assessed during the investigation, and appropriate legal measures will be taken accordingly.
