Massive fire guts 3 furniture factories in Chattogram
The fire caused the owners an estimated damage of Tk15 lakh
A devastating fire gutted three furniture factories in the Uttar Kattoli CDA Residential Area of Chattogram city in the early hours of today (30 December).
However, no casualties were reported in the incident.
According to fire service control room officials, the fire originated from an electric short circuit at one of the factories at around 2am. The flames soon spread and engulfed two adjacent factories located in the residential area's Padmapukur Par.

Upon receiving information at 2:10am, five firefighting units rushed to the spot and managed to douse the fire at around 7:10am after five hours of hectic effort.
Meanwhile, the fire caused the owners of the furniture factories an estimated damage of Tk15 lakh.
However, the firefighters managed to recover materials worth Tk20 lakh.
