Looted weapons must be recovered before polls: CA
Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today (20 January) stressed that all looted weapons must be recovered immediately to ensure law and order ahead of the 13th national election.
Yunus made the remarks while presiding over the 119th meeting of the National Implementation Committee on Administrative Reorganization (NICAR) at the National Guest House Jamuna – the first NICAR meeting under the interim government.
Following the meeting, Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam briefed reporters at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka. He said election preparations were discussed, with particular focus on weapon recovery to maintain nationwide security.
Addressing concerns and rumours about the election, the secretary remarked, "We are aware of the history behind many of those expressing doubts. Given their actions over the last fifteen and a half years, such statements are unsurprising. Everyone has the freedom to speak, but the government's position is firm."
