4 Toss Bond warehouses sealed over unauthorised storage of duty-free liquor, goods
All four warehouses were sealed to prevent the unauthorised transfer or removal of duty-free goods imported under bonded warehouse facilities and to ensure a proper investigation, the statement adds.
Four warehouses of Toss Bond Private Ltd in South Gulshan have been sealed after a joint inspection found that the company had stored liquor and goods in two unauthorised facilities in addition to its two declared warehouses.
The operation was conducted by the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID), the Department of Narcotics Control and Special Response Battalion-1 (SRB-1), according to a press release issued today (2 October) by the National Board of Revenue (NBR).
According to the NBR statement, officials initially detected serious discrepancies during the inspection.
Although the company is authorised to operate two warehouses, the inspection found that it was storing goods in four, including two unauthorised facilities.
All four warehouses were sealed to prevent the unauthorised transfer or removal of duty-free goods imported under bonded warehouse facilities and to ensure a proper investigation, the statement adds.
The NBR said the investigation and verification were ongoing, with further details to be disclosed later.
