'I firmly believe you will lead the country towards a stable path': Yunus congratulates Tarique

Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus congratulated Tarique Rahman on securing a majority in the national parliamentary election, saying he believes the BNP chief will lead the country towards a stable, inclusive and development-oriented path.

In a congratulatory message to Tarique today (14 February), Yunus highlighted the significance of the public mandate and expressed hope that democratic values, the rule of law and accountable governance would be strengthened under the BNP chairman's leadership.

Yunus said, "I extend my heartiest congratulations and best wishes to you as BNP, under your leadership, has achieved a huge majority in the 13th National Parliamentary Election. This clear mandate of the people in the historic process of democratic transition will remain a very important milestone for the country's constitutional and democratic continuity and institutional stability."

He added, "I firmly believe that in fulfilling the grave responsibility of governing the state, you will lead the country towards a stable, inclusive, and development-oriented path in the light of your wisdom, democratic values, and spirit of public welfare.

"I recall the ideals and state philosophy of your father, former president Ziaur Rahman, and the uncompromising leadership and commitment to democracy of your mother, former prime minister Khaleda Zia. I sincerely hope that their ideals and great works will illuminate your path in the days ahead."

The chief adviser said, "Bangladesh today stands at the threshold of a new potential in the global arena. The application of well-coordinated merit, intellect, and wisdom is essential in fields such as economic transformation, technological advancement, climate resilience, human resource development, and active participation in regional and international diplomacy.

"I hope that under your leadership, national unity will be consolidated and democratic values, the rule of law, and an accountable governance system will be further strengthened."

He also said, "At the same time, I extend my sincere thanks for your valuable cooperation and constructive role during the interim government's tenure.

"Your positive stance in maintaining a democratic environment, displaying tolerance, and remaining respectful of the constitutional process during this sensitive time of transition has played an important role in the national interest."

"Finally, I wish success for all your initiatives aimed at the welfare of the people of the country, establishing justice, and building a prosperous Bangladesh. May Almighty Allah grant you wisdom, patience, and firmness in the service of the country and the nation," the chief adviser concluded.
