ACC files case against Hasina's cousin Hasnat Abdullah

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed a case against Abul Hasnat Abdullah, former chief whip and cousin of Sheikh Hasina, for earning over Tk19 crore illegally.
ACC spokesperson and Deputy Director Akhtarul told the media today (October 19) about the filing of the case, though it was filed on October 16.
Deputy director of ACC Jakir Hossain filed the case with the District Coordinated Office-1, Dhaka, mentioning the illegal earnings from 2011 to 2024.
The case statement said the commission found transactions of TK80.49 crore in different bank accounts, which have no valid source of earnings.
A four-member anti-corruption task force investigated graft charges against Abul Hasnat Abdullah.
The task force led by Major Sabbir included Rahela Begum, assistant director of the Central Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), and two representatives from the National Board of Revenue (NBR) and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police.
Visiting different landed properties, bank accounts, and items kept in lockers at banks, the team found the clue to the corruption.
