‘Launch, ferry services will continue as usual maintaining health rules during Eid-ul-Adha’

The movement of launches and ferries will continue as usual subject to maintaining health safety guidelines during Eid-ul-Adha.
However, ferry services for goods-laden trucks and covered vans, except those carrying daily essentials and sacrificial animals, across the country will remain suspended for nine days – five days before and three days after the Eid day.
The decisions came at a meeting on movement of launch, ferry, steamer and the safety of home-goers during Eid-ul-Adha at the shipping ministry on Wednesday with State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair.

The state minister for shipping, said, "It is essential that passenger vessels abide by health safety protocols as suggested by the health department."
Khalid Mahmud further said there has been a tremendous development in the shipping sector over the last 11 years of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government.
Disciplinary action would be taken against those involved in charging more than the permitted fare and picking up passengers by boat in the middle of a river, the meeting informed. The movement of speedboat will remain stopped at night.
Secretary to the shipping ministry Mohammad Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury, Chairman of BIWTC Khaja Mia, Chairman of BIWTA Commodore Golam Sadeq, among others, spoke in the meeting.
