JaPa alleges 20-30 arsonists torched office after leaders vacated premises on police request

Around 20 to 30 individuals broke into the Jatiyo Party central office in Kakrail this evening (30 August) and set it on fire, the party has alleged.
In a statement, JaPa chairman's Press Secretary and Joint Secretary General Khandaker Delwar Jalali said, "Arsonists set fire to the Jatiyo Party central office in Kakrail this evening, burning books from the ground-floor library, important documents, and furniture."
Law enforcement personnel brought the blaze under control after dispersing the attackers with baton charges, water cannons, and sound grenades, the party stated.
"The attack came after Jatiyo Party leaders and activists had concluded their scheduled programmes and vacated the office at the request of law enforcement officials. Around 20 to 30 individuals then broke through police barricades and carried out the arson attack.
"The incident followed several failed attempts by attackers yesterday, who staged torch processions and tried to set fire to the office but were thwarted by resistance from Jatiyo Party activists and police," the statement reads.
The statement also mentions that earlier today, at 3:30pm, Jatiyo Party Secretary General Barrister Shamim Haider Patwary exchanged views with leaders and activists of the Mymensingh division at the party office.
Later, at 4:30pm, he answered various questions from journalists in the central office auditorium.
"Meanwhile, another group attempted multiple attacks on the Uttara residence of Jatiyo Party Chairman Golam Mohammad Quader after 4pm. Law enforcers, who had been deployed at the residence since morning, repelled the attackers."
"A large number of police personnel remain stationed at both the Jatiyo Party central office and the chairman's residence," adds the statement.
