1 Bangladeshi among 22 killed in Delhi hotel fire
The Bangladesh High Commission says it is facilitating the earliest repatriation of the mortal remains of the deceased.
At least one Bangladeshi was among 22 people killed in a fire that devastated a hotel in Delhi's Malviya Nagar locality on Wednesday (3 June).
The deceased was Md Nurul Amin, 44, said the Bangladesh High Commission in a statement yesterday (4 June).
The High Commission said it is facilitating the earliest repatriation of the mortal remains of the deceased.
It said that as of 4 June, two Bangladeshi families have been particularly affected by the fire that broke out the previous morning. Both families staying at the hotel were in Delhi to avail medical treatment at the nearby Max Hospital, it added.
The mission said Nurul was among the 22 nationals from seven countries to lose their lives in the incident.
The High Commission said it remains in constant contact with the victims and their families who are under treatment at various hospitals in New Delhi.
Bangladesh's high commissioner to India visited all Bangladeshi nationals receiving treatment at Max Hospital and inquired about their condition with the attending physicians, according to a Facebook post by the High Commission.
It said its officials remain at the hospital to liaise round-the-clock with the patients and the hospital and address any exigency.
The High Commission is also in contact with the Indian authorities to ensure necessary treatment and support for the victims.
