Jailed Awami League leader dies
The deceased, Murad Hossain, 65, was a former councillor of Dhaka North City Corporation’s ward-12.
An Awami League leader, who was jailed at the Kashimpur High Security Central Jail in Gazipur, died today (18 November).
The deceased, Murad Hossain, 65, was a former councillor of Dhaka North City Corporation's ward-12.
Abdullah Al Mamun, superintendent of the jail, said Murad suddenly fell ill inside the jail.
"He was rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where on-duty doctors declared him dead," Mamun said, adding that legal procedures are underway in accordance with prison regulations.
According to prison officials, Murad was being held as an undertrial prisoner facing three cases, including a murder case.
