Iran crisis: 24-hour hotline launched for Bangladeshis in Middle East
Expatriates can contact the ministry’s call centre at +8809610102030, which operates 24 hours a day, according to a press release issued today (1 March).
The Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment has urged Bangladeshis living abroad to seek assistance if they face difficulties amid the ongoing situation in the Middle East.
Expatriates can contact the ministry's call centre at +8809610102030, which operates 24 hours a day, according to a press release issued today (1 March).
The hotline comes after a sharp rise in regional tensions following a joint military operation by the United States and Israel against Iran on Saturday (28 February).
Iranian state media reported that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed during the strikes.
Several countries in the Middle East announced temporary airspace closures in response to the situation, affecting civilian flights. Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka has instructed airlines to inform passengers about cancellations, delays, or rescheduling.
As a result, hundreds of outbound workers were seen waiting anxiously at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport this morning after Middle East-bound flights were cancelled, leaving many unsure if they will be able to join their jobs on time.
