Measles: Death toll climbs to 955 as 5 more children pass away
75 new confirmed measles cases were recorded, bringing the total number of laboratory-confirmed infections to 18,726.
Five more children died from measles-like symptoms in 24 hours until 8am today (27 August), bringing Bangladesh's combined tally of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths to 955.
With the latest update, the number of suspected measles deaths has risen to 856, while the number of laboratory-confirmed measles deaths has reached 99, according to the daily update from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
A total of 956 new suspected measles cases were reported during the 24-hour period, bringing the cumulative number of suspected cases nationwide to 1,53,692.
Meanwhile, 75 new confirmed measles cases were recorded, bringing the total number of laboratory-confirmed infections to 18,726.
Since 15 March, a total of 1,34,437 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalised across the country, and 1,29,489 have recovered, according to DGHS data.
