Electronic signatures not allowed on pathology, radiology reports: Health directorate
According to the directive, sample collection is only allowed at the trade license address, and auto-generated reports must be verified and signed by a specialist physician.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has ruled that private pathology and radiology reports must bear handwritten signatures of the responsible specialists or medical officers, as electronic or online signatures will no longer be accepted.
The directive was issued on Monday (5 January) and signed by Dr Abu Hossain Md Moinul Ahsan, Director (Hospitals and Clinics) of the DGHS.
According to the directive, sample collection is only allowed at the trade license address, and auto-generated reports must be verified and signed by a specialist physician.
The DGHS also stated that physicians signing the reports must be BMDC-registered, pathology machines regularly calibrated, and laboratories must maintain registers and preserve all test records.
The directive states laboratory waste must be properly disposed of, and all equipment and reagents must follow the Registration Guidelines for Medical Devices Bangladesh 2015.
