8 dengue deaths in a day; cases cross 90,000 this year
With the latest figures, the total number of dengue deaths in 2025 has risen to 364
Eight more people died of dengue in the 24 hours till this morning (23 November), as Bangladesh continues to struggle with a sharp rise in infections.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 778 new dengue cases were recorded during this period, surpassing the total number of cases this year to reach an alarming milestone of over 90,000.
With the latest figures, the total number of dengue deaths in 2025 has risen to 364, while the number of cases has reached 90,264.
DGHS data shows that three of the latest deaths occurred at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. One death was reported from each of the following facilities: Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital, Narsingdi Sadar Hospital, Mugda Medical College Hospital, and Parkview Hospital Ltd.
Currently, 873 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals across Dhaka, while 2,458 dengue patients are admitted to facilities nationwide.
The report also highlights that 60.9% of newly infected patients are men, while 39.1% are women.
Last year, dengue claimed 575 lives. During the same period, the DGHS recorded 101,214 dengue cases and 100,040 recoveries.
