Govt ready to do 'anything and everything' to transform Bangladesh into industrialised nation: Fakhrul
Fakhrul said the government's development agenda aims to ensure inclusion of farmers, workers and small businesses as key drivers of growth and resilience.
Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said the government is ready to do "anything and everything" to transform Bangladesh into an industrialised nation.
He made the remarks while inaugurating a conference titled "Road for Trade, Growth and Economic Diplomacy 2026 – Navigating Risks: Leveraging Resilience" held at a hotel in Dhaka today (13 June).
The conference was jointly organised by the International Trade, Investment and Technology Wing of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (Bida), aiming to serve as a working platform for informed policymaking on trade, investment, and economic diplomacy.
Fakhrul said the theme of the conference reflects both a sense of "adventure and direction" in shaping Bangladesh's economic future.
"As we chart a roadmap for trade, growth and economic diplomacy, our theme – managing risks, leveraging resilience – captures the spirit of the journey ahead," he said. "It clearly shows the government is ready to do anything and everything for the new Bangladesh."
He said the current administration, in office for just over 100 days, has a clear ambition to transform Bangladesh into a "safe, resilient and industrialised country" where citizens receive a fair share of prosperity and dignity.
Fakhrul added that the government's development agenda aims to ensure inclusion of farmers, workers and small businesses as key drivers of growth and resilience.
He also claimed that democratic and economic institutions had previously been weakened and pledged efforts to rebuild governance structures to ensure development reaches people at the grassroots level.
"Our farmers and workers are the backbone of the economy," he said.
Fakhrul said the government's broader vision is to ensure dignity, fairness and equal opportunity for all citizens while strengthening local government institutions to bring services closer to people's doorsteps.
He further said Bangladesh aims to create an investment-friendly environment for global partners, offering a "competitive, stable, ethical and people-oriented" economy.
"We invite you to invest in our vision. Trust me, you will not regret," he added.
