Flooding worsens in Gaibandha

Flood situation worsened in Gaibandha on Monday after two major flood control embankments at Katlamari and Baguriya areas had been breached by flood water, inundating fresh areas in Fulchhari upazila of the northern district.

Till filing of this report on Monday morning, the Brahmaputra was flowing 109 cm above the danger level.

Abdul Hannan, superintendent engineer of Water Development Board, told The Business Standard that although the Baguriya embankment situation is under control, but the Katlamari embankment is at risk.

Fulchhari Upazila Chairman GM Selim Parvez said that seven villages had been affected over the previous 24 hours.
