Fire breaks out at Mohammadpur residential building, brought under control swiftly
No casualties or injuries had been confirmed at the time of reporting. The cause of the fire also could not be determined immediately
A fire broke out in a high-rise residential building, the High Heritage, in the Qaderabad area of Mohammadpur, Dhaka, around noon today (5 November).
Mohammad Shafiul Alam, a firefighter at the Mohammadpur Fire Service and Civil Defence Station, said two fire service units were deployed to the scene.
"The fire has been brought under control and the extinguishing operation is in its final stage," he told TBS.
No casualties or injuries had been confirmed at the time of reporting. The cause of the fire also could not be determined immediately
Rozina Akter, duty officer at the Fire Service and Civil Defence control room, said they received the report of the fire around 12pm.
Two fire service units were dispatched to the spot, and the blaze was brought under control by around 12:30pm.
She added that a child fell ill after inhaling smoke, that time fire service personnel rescued the child and took them to the hospital.
Mohammadpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Kazi Rafique said the fire did not spread much and was brought under control swiftly.
The situation is now normal. Residents of the building rushed downstairs in panic when the fire broke out. However, as the blaze was quickly contained, no major casualties or injuries were reported.
