Fire at Babubazar 14-storey building fully extinguished after 90 minutes

A fire that broke out on the sixth floor of a 14-storey building named Hazi Tower in Babubazar's Armanitola area this morning (23 December) was completely extinguished after a 90-minute effort by the Fire Service.
The incident occurred early in the morning around 6:40am. The building's lower floors are commercial, while the upper floors are residential.
Upon receiving the alert, nine units from the Fire Service rushed to the scene and managed to bring the fire under control by 7:20am, finally extinguishing it completely by 8:10am.
No casualties were reported in the incident so far. Firefighters safely evacuated 17 people from the building using alternative staircases, confirmed Assistant Director of the Fire Service and Civil Defence Kazi Nazmuzzaman.
He said the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage will be revealed after further investigation.
