A man in Faridpur has been arrested for stealing a private car that he had previously owned and later sold.

The accused, Md Mehedi Hasan, 26, was arrested on 6 October from the Jajira area of Shariatpur.

According to Faridpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Abdul Jalil, the stolen car, a private vehicle, was taken from a garage in Goalchamot Wireless Para, Faridpur, on 25 September.

Speaking at a press conference on the arrest, SP Abdul Jalil said, "On 25 September, around 10am, a private car owned by Saiful Islam Hridoy was stolen from a garage in Goalchamot Wireless Para. The owner lodged a complaint with the local police. Based on information, police arrested Mehedi Hasan from Nawdoba, Jajira in Shariatpur on Sunday. During interrogation, he confessed to the theft, and the stolen car was recovered from Dhaka on Monday."

Interestingly, the police revealed that the car originally belonged to Mehedi.

He had purchased the car with a friend but later sold it, keeping a duplicate key with him.

Using this spare key, he stole the car from the garage.

"The arrested individual will be produced before the court as per the law," SP Jalil added.
