IUB's icebtm 2025 concludes with two-day programme at Westin
The two-day International Conference on Economics, Business and Technology Management 2025 (ICEBTM 2025), organised by the School of Business and Entrepreneurship (SBE) at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), concluded on 15 November with a closing and awards ceremony at The Westin Dhaka.
Didar A Husain, Chairman of IUB's Board of Trustees; Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr M Tamim; Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Daniel W Lund; Acting Dean of SBE Professor Dr Raisul Awal Mahmud; Conference General Chair Professor Dr Md Mamun Habib; and A K M Shahnawaj, Managing Director (Current Charge), Dhaka Bank PLC, spoke at the ceremony. IUB Trustees Wajid Ali Khan Panni and Dr Husne Ara Ali, as well as University of Dhaka Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan, were also present. Awards were presented to the six best papers of the conference.
In his remarks, Professor Dr Mamun Habib said, "We hope to organise thematic student research symposia every year from now on, and a major international conference such as ICEBTM every two years. IUB has recently launched the Advancing Undergraduate Research Aspirations (AURA) initiative, which I believe will help foster a culture of research among our students."
Keynote papers on the second day were presented by Professor Dr Rajah Rasiah, University of Malaya, Malaysia, and Dr Ahmad Ahsan, Director, Policy Research Institute. The session was chaired by Professor Dr Abdur Rab, Vice-Chancellor of IUBAT, and Dr Ben Bvepfepfe of Leeds Trinity University and CILT, UK.
Industry and academic leaders joined several 'Industry Talk' and 'Academia–Industry Discussion' sessions. Academic speakers included Professor Dr M M Nurul Absar, Vice-Chancellor of Chittagong Independent University; Professor Dr Yousuf Mahbubul Islam, Vice-Chancellor of Southeast University; Professor Dr Shahjahan Khan, Vice-Chancellor of Asian University Bangladesh; and senior academics from NSU, IUB, Malaysia, Australia, the UK, and the UAE.
Industry participants included Niaz Rahim, Group Director, Rahimafrooz; A S M Mainuddin Monem, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Abdul Monem Group; Dr Arif Dowla, Managing Director, ACI PLC; Emeka Henry Egeson; Rezwanul Kabir, Energypac; Kabir Ahmed, BAFFA; and A Gafur, Director, Abdul Monem Economic Zone.
Three parallel sessions featured 106 paper presentations and 12 posters by faculty members, researchers, and students from Bangladesh and abroad. A special 'Meet the Journal Editors' session enabled participants to interact with editors whose journals will later consider selected papers for publication.
More than 300 academics, researchers, students, and industry representatives from over 12 countries — including the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Japan, Malaysia, India, Poland, and the UAE — participated in ICEBTM 2025.
