IUB Library holds session on Turnitin tools, AI writing detection
The library of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), in collaboration with Turnitin, organised a faculty development session on Turnitin Feedback Studio and artificial intelligence (AI) writing detection on 8 September 2026.

Turnitin South Asia Customer Success Manager Gautam Raval conducted the workshop, attended by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr M Tamim, Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Daniel W Lund, and other faculty members and staff.
Librarian Md Shahajada Masud Anowarul Haque opened the event with remarks stressing academic honesty and the responsible adoption of AI tools in tertiary education. Professor Tamim also addressed the gathering, highlighting ethical standards and academic integrity among educators.
The interactive workshop covered core components of academic writing, including the difference between plagiarism and text similarity, factors affecting similarity scores, institutional procedures for handling plagiarism, and Turnitin's detection mechanisms for AI-generated text.
Participants also reviewed submission storage protocols within the Turnitin database, the implications of opting in or out of global repository archives, and practical methods for managing digital classrooms and assignment submissions.
