IBA DU holds 58th graduation ceremony
Graduates were awarded degrees under the BBA, MBA, Executive MBA and DBA programmes. Of them, 116 students received BBA degrees, 126 received MBA degrees, 122 received Executive MBA degrees, while one student was awarded a DBA degree.
The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) of University of Dhaka held its 58th Graduation Ceremony yesterday (15 May) at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center, where 365 students from the graduating class of 2025 received degrees.
Graduates were awarded degrees under the BBA, MBA, Executive MBA and DBA programmes. Of them, 116 students received BBA degrees, 126 received MBA degrees, 122 received Executive MBA degrees, while one student was awarded a DBA degree.
Vice Chancellor of the University of Dhaka Professor Dr ABM Obaidul Islam attended the ceremony as chief guest, while IBA Director Professor Dr Abu Yousuf Md Abdullah chaired the programme.
Former finance adviser to the interim government Dr Salehuddin Ahmed joined the event as graduation speaker and urged the graduates to play an active role in strengthening the country's economy.
"Standing here today, I am reminded of my own journey. Just like you, we were students in a turbulent time, witnessing our nation strive to find its identity anew, economic and political. Today, I see a reflection of that same revolutionary energy, but with resources and global exposure that were beyond the reach of my generation," Salehuddin said.
Addressing the graduates, the vice chancellor said the country's current socio-economic climate requires business professionals equipped with "knowledge, skill, grit, compassion, and morality."
IBA Director Dr Abu Yousuf Md Abdullah encouraged students to pursue entrepreneurship, think critically, take calculated risks and challenge the status quo.
In his welcome speech, Professor Dr Iftekharul Amin urged graduates to use their education to help build a better society guided by integrity and kindness.
This year, 26 students earned a place on the Director's Honor List for outstanding academic performance, while two students received gold medals.
