CA orders e-learning launch in 100 CHT schools by end of year
CA Yunus recommends use of solar panel, Starlink to combat existing electricity, connectivity issues

Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has directed the immediate implementation of e-learning in at least 100 schools in the Chittagong Hill Tracts by the end of this year.
The directive was issued during a high-level meeting today (2 July) at the State Guesthouse Jamuna in the capital.
The meeting was attended by CHT Affairs Adviser Supradeep Chakma, Liberation War and Disaster Management Adviser Faruq-e-Azam, Food and Land Adviser Ali Imam Majumder, Principal Secretary to the Chief Adviser Siraj Uddin Mia, and senior officials from the Department of Primary and Secondary Education.
Officials briefed the meeting on three major challenges to launching virtual education in CHT- lack of electricity in remote areas, poor or no internet connectivity, and a shortage of skilled teachers to facilitate such programs.
In response, CA Yunus recommended the use of solar panels to overcome electricity shortages, and the use of mobile networks and satellite services like Starlink to address connectivity issues.
To counter the lack of qualified teachers, he suggested recruiting contract-based instructors for selected schools, based on an updated school list.
"To ensure quality education in underdeveloped areas of CHT, we must first identify 100 schools where internet-based education can be introduced," said the chief adviser.
"We need a detailed list of what each school lacks—whether internet, equipment, or other resources—and begin implementation immediately. Classes must start within this year," he added.
CA Yunus further said that skilled teachers from prominent urban schools could teach mathematics, science, and English online, helping students in remote regions receive the same quality of education.
"If given access to good teachers and resources, many talented students from these areas will excel," he said.
During the meeting, CHT Affairs Adviser Supradeep Chakma also briefed the CA on initiatives to improve livelihoods and protect the environment in the three hill districts.
During the meeting, CA Yunus instructed relevant ministries to coordinate and develop integrated plans accordingly.
