Measles outbreak: Death toll rises to 512 as 13 more pass away

Another 13 have died from measles and measles symptoms across the country in the 24 hours to 8am today (23 May), raising the death toll this year to 512.
Among the latest deaths, one was confirmed to have measles through laboratory testing, while 12 others who died had been showing measles symptoms, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The DGHS said 1,967 patients with measles symptoms were admitted to hospitals nationwide during the 24-hour period.
According to DGHS data, at least 86 children have died from confirmed measles infections so far this year, while another 426 children have died with symptoms consistent with the disease.
The health directorate said a total of 8,494 measles cases were confirmed through laboratory testing between 15 March and 23 May.
According to the latest health bulletin, the health authorities have identified 62,507 suspected measles cases nationwide.
