ECNEC approves 17 projects worth Tk8,974cr
Of the total amount, Tk3,180.34 crore will come from government funding, Tk5,563.43 crore from project aid, and Tk230.51 crore from the agencies’ own resources

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved 17 development projects at a total estimated cost of Tk8,974.28 crore.
The approval came during a meeting held today (24 June) at the NEC conference room in the capital's Planning Commission premises, chaired by Chief Adviser and ECNEC Chairperson Muhammad Yunus.
Of the total amount, Tk3,180.34 crore will come from government funding, Tk5,563.43 crore from project aid, and Tk230.51 crore from the agencies' own resources.
The approved projects include two under the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives: the "Upazila Complex Expansion Project (2nd Phase) (2nd Revised)" and the "Integrated Services and Livelihood Development for Displaced Rohingyas and Host Communities" project.
The Ministry of Home Affairs received approval for the "Construction of 200-bed Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Centres in Seven Divisional Cities" project, while the Ministry of Shipping will implement the "Capacity Enhancement of Four Newly Constructed Marine Academies through Installation of Simulators and Related Facilities" project.
The Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs will implement the "Access to Justice for Women: Strengthening Community Dispute Resolution and Improving Case Management" project.
The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications received approval for the "Installation of the Third Submarine Cable to Expand Bangladesh's International Telecommunication Connectivity (2nd Revised)" project.
The Ministry of Industries will move ahead with the "Construction of 13 New Buffer Godowns in Various Districts for Fertiliser Storage and Distribution (3rd Revised and 4th Time Extension)" project.
The Ministry of Women and Children Affairs had two projects approved: "Establishment of Adolescent Clubs (1st Revised)" and "Strengthening Integrated Services and Quick Response Teams to Prevent Violence Against Women and Children."
The Ministry of Education will implement the "TVET Teachers for the Future (TTF) Programme," and the Ministry of Cultural Affairs will carry out the "Nationwide Mobile Library (3rd Revised)" project.
Four projects from the Ministry of Planning also received the green light: "Strengthening Development Budget Management through a New Digital Database System (3rd Revised)," "Improvement of Public Investment Management System (IPIMS)," "Procurement Modernisation to Improve Public Service Delivery (PMIPSD)," and "Statistical Capacity Enhancement and Modernisation Project (SCEMP)."
Additionally, the tenure of two projects under the Ministry of Finance was extended: "Strengthening Public Audit Through Digital Transformation and Capacity Enhancement (SPADTEC)" and "Strengthening Domestic Revenue Mobilisation Project (SDRMP)."
