DSCC mayor launches new year-round mosquito control activities

The usual activities of destroying mosquitos have been rearranged. The new work plan will be implemented simultaneously in 75 wards of the city corporation.

Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), inaugurated "Year-round integrated mosquito control management activities" at Lalbagh Nawabganj Park in Ward no 23 today.  

"The usual activities of destroying mosquitos have been rearranged. The new work plan will be implemented simultaneously in 75 wards of the city corporation," said the mayor.

Eight workers in each ward will spray larvicide from 9 am to 1:00 pm. In addition, 10 workers in each of the wards will conduct fogging activities from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

Ward councillors will be directly involved in these activities. 

"Cleaning of water bodies and sewerage will start from June 14," said Taposh. The initiatives of farming Tilapia fish and duck in the water bodies would be taken so that no larva of mosquitos could grow there, he added.

He has called on the local people to inform health official or ward councillor if they find any problem with mosquito control activities. Even people can contact with him in this regard.

Haji Mohammad Selim, lawmaker elected from the area, Abu Ahmed Mannafi, president of Mahanagar Awami League South, and Shah Mohammad Imdadul Haque, chief executive Officer of the corporation, were present at the programme.
