DSCC hosts cycle rally to commemorate july uprising

As part of its July mass uprising programme, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) held a cycle rally in the capital today. Beginning at Rabindra Sarobar, Dhanmondi, at 7:30 am, the rally continued through key thoroughfares to Nagar Bhaban.
The event was inaugurated by Mr Mahbub-ul-Alam, Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, alongside Mr. Shahjahan Mia, Honourable Administrator of DSCC, and drew approximately 190 cyclists and residents from diverse backgrounds.
In his opening remarks, Secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam emphasised the need to engage citizens in the spirit of the July uprising to strengthen good governance. "We must involve the public in our nation's democratic process," he said, calling on every resident of densely populated Dhaka to act responsibly and contribute to making the city more liveable.
Administrator Md Shahjahan Mia added, "There is no alternative but to build a cleaner city for future generations." He noted that while the corporation drives cleanliness and mosquito control, lasting success depends on public participation and cooperation.
The inauguration was also attended by Mr Zahirul Islam, Chief Executive Officer of DSCC; Mr Muhammad Shafiqul Islam, Secretary; all departmental heads; and representatives of Dhaka Bank.
