Sylhet's rail link with rest of country restored after 3-hour
A relief train was later sent to the spot, and normal train operations resumed around 2pm after the stranded train was recovered, say officials

Rail communication between Sylhet and the rest of the country, which was suspended for three hours following an engine failure of the Parabat Express, was restored this afternoon (21 September).
The Sylhet-bound intercity train got stranded on a rail bridge over the Khoai River near Shayestaganj Rail Junction in Habiganj around 11am after its engine went out of order, halting train movement on the route, said Uttam Kumar Deb, assistant station master of the junction.
A relief train was later sent to the spot, and normal train operations resumed around 2pm after the stranded train was recovered, he added.
Earlier, Loco master Abu Zafar Siddique said the engine developed a fault shortly after the train left Shayestaganj station and crossed the Khoai River.
"Later I found two fuses had burned out and the fan had stopped spinning, causing the engine to shut down. The fuses need to be replaced, which requires mechanical personnel. The higher authorities have been informed," he said.
