Gazipur City announces budget of Tk5007.21crore

Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) has announced a budget of Tk5007.21crore for the 2020-21 fiscal year.

Gasik Mayor Mohammad Jahangir Alam officially announced the budget today (Sunday) at the Nagar Bhaban auditorium in the district town.

Expenditure in the proposed budget has been estimated at Tk4,567.12crore. The budget has a surplus of Tk Tk 440.1 crore for the financial year 2020-2021.

In the last 2019-20 financial year, the budget was Tk 6138.66 crore.

Before announcing the budget, the mayor met all the councilors of the city corporation where the proposed budget was finalised.

In the budget speech, Mayor Md Jahangir Alam said, "Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the revenue target for the 2019-2020 fiscal year has not been set."

Despite the limitations of the fund, a development proposal of about Tk300 crore has been made for construction and repair of roads, he added.
