DAB condemns Jamaat nayeb-e-ameer's 'derogatory' comments on doctors
DAB has called on Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher to retract his statement

Doctors' Association of Bangladesh (DAB) has strongly condemned and protested the "derogatory" statements made by Jamaat-e-Islami central Nayeb-e- Ameer Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher regarding the medical profession and doctors.
In a joint statement, DAB President Dr Harun Al Rashid and Secretary General Dr Md Zahirul Islam Shakil said that the Jamaat leader's claim that doctors "take money from pharmaceutical companies, which raises treatment costs by 20%," is insulting to the entire medical community.
DAB leaders expressed their strong condemnation of such misleading and sweeping comments, stating that they will increase public distrust in doctors and encourage people to seek medical treatment abroad.
DAB has called on Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher to retract his statement.

The statement highlighted that doctors are always at the forefront of helping the country in times of national disasters, including the "July uprising".
It also noted that the country's doctors serve the public with lower salaries compared to their counterparts in neighbouring countries.
The DAB leaders urged everyone to work on improving the medical profession in the public interest and reaffirmed the association's clear position against all conspiracies targeting the medical profession and doctors through the statement.
Doctors' Association of Bangladesh noted that it will continue to work to improve the healthcare system and protect the dignity of the medical profession in collaboration with the general medical community of the country.
