Tk12.63cr worth illegal mobile phone displays, blankets seized in Brahmanbaria

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) today (19 October) have seized mobile phone displays and blankets, allegedly smuggled from India, worth around Tk12.63 crore from Brahmanbaria's Bijoynagar upazila.
The seizure was made during an operation conducted by members of BGB Battalion-25 in the Champaknagar area this morning.
BGB Battalion-25 Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Jabbar Ahmed disclosed the information at a press briefing held later in the day at the battalion headquarters in Kalikaccha, Sarail.
He said, "We remain vigilant around the clock to prevent drug and goods smuggling along the border. On a tip-off, a special operation was carried out in the Champaknagar area in the morning, during which the illegally exported items were recovered from a pickup van."
According to him, the seized goods include 15,192 pieces of mobile phone displays and 107 pieces of high-quality blankets.
"The estimated market value of the seized items is Tk12.63 crore. The goods will be handed over to the customs authorities, and a case is being filed with the local police station," the colonel added.
