BNP replaces candidate in Brahmanbaria-4, Kabir Bhuiyan secures nomination
Earlier, the party had nominated BNP chairperson’s adviser and former MP Mushfiqur Rahman for the seat
The BNP has changed its party nominee for the Brahmanbaria-4 constituency, with district BNP leader Kabir Ahmed Bhuiyan receiving the final nomination.
The nomination letter, signed by BNP secretary general, was handed over to Kabir Ahmed today (28 December).
Earlier, the party had nominated BNP chairperson's adviser and former MP Mushfiqur Rahman for the seat.
The initial nomination sparked discontent among local BNP leaders and activists, particularly due to Mushfiqur Rahman's age factor.
Party insiders said grassroots pressure and organisational considerations played a role in the decision to revise the nomination.
Kabir Ahmed Bhuiyan is regarded as a long-time and influential BNP leader in Brahmanbaria district. He has previously faced political persecution and was a victim of enforced disappeared, according to party sources.
Leaders also credit him with strengthening the party's organisational structure in the district, including facilitating conferences at upazila and union levels.
