Rape of ninth grader after promise of marriage: RAB arrests accused from Rajshahi

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested an individual for raping a ninth grader after assuring her of marriage in a drive conducted in the Airport area of Rajshahi in the wee hours today (13 March).
The accused has been identified as Jamadur Rahman, son of Abdus Salam from Sadipur village under Charghat upazila of Rajshahi.
Jamadur was arrested after RAB conducted a drive at Sindur Kusumdi area under Airport Police Station of Rajshahi, RAB said in a press release.

According to the release, Md Tozammel Hossain Uzzal Srabon, the number one accused in the case, used to make indecent offers to the victim during her movement between her school and house on a regular basis.
On 22 January, Tozammel with help from Jamadur abducted the victim from the street in front of Charghat Pilot High School, took her to his house and raped her after promising of marriage, the release said.
Later, the victim's father lodged a rape case against Tozammel and Jamadur with Charghat Police Station.
Based on secret information, a team of RAB-5 conducted a drive at the district's Airport area in the wee hours of Thursday and was able to arrest Jamadur, the release added.
Jamadur has been handed over to Charghat Police Station for legal proceedings, the release concluded.
