BGB, locals foil BSF attempt to push-in 750 Indian nationals thru Brahmanbaria border
To obstruct the intrusion of Indian nationals into Bangladeshi territory, BGB took the locals' help and strengthened its patrol along the border since midnight (16 May)

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and locals have reportedly prevented an attempt by India's Border Security Force (BSF) to push-in at least 750 Indian nationals through the border in Bijoynagar Upazila of Brahmanbaria.
To obstruct the intrusion of Indian nationals into Bangladeshi territory, BGB took the locals' help and strengthened its patrol along the border since midnight (16 May).
Lt Col Jabbar Ahmed, commander of BGB-25 Battalion, said, "The situation at the border is calm now. BGB members are on alert so that nothing, including drugs, can be smuggled through the border."
BGB officials said they received information at midnight that BSF personnel were going to push-in at least 750 Indian nationals into Bangladesh through the Nalgharia and Noabadi border areas under Singerbil union in Bijoynagar.
BSF members gathered these Indian citizens at Agartala border, prompting a tense situation at the border, they said.
Getting warned by BGB about the push-in, the locals used loudhailers to warn people and gathered at the border with sticks in their hands, while BGB members strengthened their patrolling.
Due to the joint effort by BGB and the locals, BSF's plan to push-in Indian nationals into Bangladesh was foiled, said BGB officials.
