Police recover stolen motorcycle from Vatara station, arrests four
The arrestees are active members of an inter-district motorcycle theft gang, police said.
Police have recovered a motorcycle stolen from inside Vatara Police Station and arrested four members of an inter-district theft gang in connection with the incident.
Two of those arrested are minors, besides Rahmatullah, 22, and Ibrahim, 28.
They were arrested today (20 January) from the Mollabari area of Morichakandi Ghat in Bancharampur upazila of Brahmanbaria district, Officer-in-Charge of Vatara Police Station Md Imaul Haque confirmed.
The stolen motorcycle was recovered at the time of the arrest.
According to the OC, the minors who were arrested entered the police station and stole the motorcycle following a plan made by a local man named Saidur. They later sold the motorcycle to dealers Ibrahim and arrested Rahmatullah.
During preliminary interrogation, police learned that Ibrahim and Rahmatullah trained the minors to steal motorcycles. Saidur paid them Tk1,000 for stealing the motorcycle from the station and still owes them another Tk1,000, the OC added.
"The arrestees are active members of an inter-district motorcycle theft gang. The process of sending them to court is underway," said Imaul Haque.
Earlier, on 10 January at around 4:00am, two masked individuals stole the motorcycle from inside Vatara Police Station.
The stolen black Yamaha FZS Version-2 motorcycle belonged to Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Md Firoz of the station.
