College student gang-raped in Bhatara, 2 minors detained
A case has been filed under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act and the Pornography Control Act.
A case has been filed following the alleged gang rape of a college student in the capital's Bhatara area.
Within hours of the case being registered around midnight on Saturday (14 March), police detained two teenagers, both minors.
According to Bhatara police, the 16-year-old girl, a higher secondary student at a local college, went out with her 17-year-old boyfriend at around 11am on 8 March.
At one point, they went to a flat on the first floor of "Philip Villa" in Vatara's Nayanagar. There, the boyfriend allegedly raped the girl, promising marriage. He later left the premises after taking Tk1,000 from her purse.
Imaul Haque, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bhatara Police Station, said that after the boyfriend left, one of his friends entered the room and informed the girl that he had recorded the incident.
Threatening to leak the video on social media, he also raped the teenager, added the police officer.
According to police, the girl's relatives learned of the matter after she returned home. Subsequently, they filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act and the Pornography Control Act.
