Murder accused escapes Jatrabari police lock-up while on remand
Four police personnel, including a sub-inspector and a constable, have been withdrawn from duty following the breach of custody.
A woman accused in a murder case escaped from the Jatrabari Police Station lock-up today (27 August) while she was on a three-day remand, according to police.
The accused, identified as Mitu Akter, allegedly managed to escape from the lock-up by using a ruse, said police.
"She was on remand in a murder case. She managed to escape this morning. An operation is underway to arrest her," Mir Muhsin Masud Rana, additional deputy commissioner of the Demra Zone under DMP's Wari Division, told The Business Standard.
Following the incident, four police personnel, including a sub-inspector and a constable, were withdrawn from duty, he said.
Details of the murder case in which she was being interrogated were not immediately available.
