MJF concerned about trial delay of Gulshan flat murder case
MJF demanded a proper investigation so that the suspect accused of inciting suicide cannot escape the law

Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF) has expressed concern and outrage over the delay in trail of the recent Gulshan flat murder case, and the news of the accused seeking anticipatory bail.
MJF demanded a proper investigation so that the suspect accused of inciting suicide cannot escape the law, said a press release issued by MJF on Thursday.
In the press statement, MJF stated that these incidents of violence against women have made people very sad and worried.
Because of the abuse of power, many of the perpetrators of violence against women are not being brought to justice or are getting away with it, said MJF.
MJF executive director Shaheen Anam said, "Due to the lack of speedy trials and exemplary punishment for rape and murder, these incidents have not stopped. Rather, they are increasing day by day. That is why we want to ensure speedy trials in all cases of violence against women."
A recent MJF study found that various socio-political and social influences, and in some cases a lack of goodwill on the part of law enforcement agencies, were to blame for delays in the judicial process.
According to the results of the study, out of 25 rape cases filed in the country from 2012 to 2016, 25 accused were granted bail within 24 hours to 15 days of their arrest. At present, 20 accused rapists are out on bail, 3 accused rapists are in jail, and 2 are going about freely under the protection of influential people. They were not even arrested. Most of the accused have been released on bail and are trying to influence their cases in various ways.
According to Aain O Shalish Kendra statistics, 46 women were killed by their husbands in the country from January to March this year. In this period there were 107 incidents of torture, of which only 39 cases have been registered. In addition, 238 more women and children have been raped, 10 of whom were killed. There were 47 attempted rape cases where 4 of the victims committed suicide due to the violence done against them.
