Man kills mother-in-law in Ctg
A woman was killed allegedly by her son-in-law in Anwara upazila of Chattogram yesterday (8 March).
The incident took place in Oshkhain Purbo Para village under Paraikora union.
According to police, the deceased was identified as Rashida Begum, 45, wife of Badsha Mia, while the accused was identified as Helal Uddin alias Manik, son of Faridul Alam.
Anwara Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Tayebur Rahman said an altercation took place yesterday morning when Manik had a dispute with his wife.
"After the argument, his wife left for work at Karnaphuli Export Processing Zone. Following her departure, Manik got into another argument with his mother-in-law. During the confrontation, he struck her on the head with a stick, killing her on the spot," he said.
"After the incident, Manik fled the scene. Upon receiving information, police recovered the victim's body and sent it to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for an autopsy," the inspector added.
He also said a murder case is under process in this connection and police are conducting drives to nab the accused.
