Inqilab Mancha stages protests in Ctg, Sylhet, Kushtia demanding justice for Hadi murder
We will not leave the streets until justice is ensured, said convener of Inqilab Mancha at Chattogram University Rafsan Rakib
Protests and demonstrations were held across several districts, including Chattogram, Sylhet and Kushtia, today (27 December) as activists of Inqilab Mancha demanded justice for the killing of the organisation's spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi.
In Chattogram, Inqilab Mancha activists staged a sit-in at the New Market intersection from around 3pm, continuing into the evening. The protesters said they would remain on the streets until justice is ensured.
Speaking at the programme, Rafsan Rakib, convener of Inqilab Mancha at Chattogram University, said, "We will not leave the streets until justice is ensured for martyr Osman Hadi. Our sit-in will continue until further instructions from the central committee."
During the demonstration, protesters chanted various slogans, including "Naraye Takbir," "Inquilab Zindabad," "Delhi or Dhaka, Dhaka Dhaka," "From Sayeedi to Hadi, Azadi Azadi," "My brother is in the grave, why is the killer outside?" and "We want justice."
In Sylhet, leaders and activists of Inqilab Mancha began a sit-in on the road in front of the Central Shaheed Minar at Chowhatta, which continued until around 8pm.
Supporters from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology and other educational institutions also joined the demonstration.
Meanwhile, in Kushtia, Inqilab Mancha brought out a rally at around 2:30pm from the Shaheed Abrar Fahad Stadium area.
The procession marched through several key roads of the town before gathering at Majompur Gate, where protesters sat on the road, blocking traffic.
As a result, vehicular movement on the Kushtia-Jhenaidah and Kushtia-Ishwardi highways came to a halt, causing long tailbacks on both sides of the highways.
After nearly two hours, the protesters withdrew, and traffic movement returned to normal around 4:30pm.
On 12 December, Hadi was shot in broad daylight shortly after Jumma prayers in the capital. He was first taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later shifted to Evercare Hospital.
As his condition deteriorated, he was flown to Singapore on 15 December for advanced treatment. He died while undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital on 18 December.
