Man hacked to death in Dhaka’s Gendaria

A man was hacked to death early Sunday in the Dayaganj area of Gendaria, Dhaka, reportedly over a previous dispute.
The incident took place around 5:30am.
The victim, Ariful Islam Babu, was first taken to a local clinic and then transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors declared him dead around 8:00am.
Inspector Md Faruk, in charge of the DMCH police outpost, said the body bore injuries to the head and both hands.
The body has been sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy.
Babu, believed to be in his mid-thirties, was originally from Baluchar village in Dhariatpur District.
He had been living with his family in a rented house in the Mirhazirbagh area of the capital.
According to his wife, Aysha Begum, a group of four to five men — identified as Rabin, Shahin, Masud, Kader, and one unidentified person — attacked Babu with sharp weapons when he went out this morning.
"They took Ariful's phone and left him bleeding on the street," said Aysha.
She also mentioned a past dispute between Babu and Rabin, though she could not confirm the details.
