Man hacked to death, father injured in Mohammadpur
Family member says incident stemmed from dispute over money
A man was killed and his father critically injured after they were hacked in the capital's Mohammadpur area tonight (24 November).
The deceased, Babu, 26, and his father Kashem were attacked around 8:30pm on Road-3 in Block-D of Dhaka Udyan, according to police.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner (Mohammadpur zone) Abdullah Al Mamun said, "A group of assailants hacked Kashem and Babu, leaving both severely injured.
"Locals rescued the duo and took them to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared Babu dead on arrival. His father Kashem remains admitted in critical condition."
"We have already launched an operation to arrest those involved," he added.
Kashem's sister Akhtari Begum said the incident stemmed from a dispute over money.
Earlier in the evening, Kashem had a scuffle with a man on Road-4 of Dhaka Udyan and later, around 8:30pm, the man and several others attacked Kashem and his son in front of their house, she said.
