An Indian national was arrested along with two gold bars from City Gate area of Chattogram city on Thursday morning.

The arrestee is Ranjit Acharjee, hailed from Hawrah of West Bengal state in India.

Officer-in-Charge of Akbar Shah Police Station Mostafizur Rahman Bhuiyan said Ranjit was going to Dhaka from Chattogram by bus. He got off from the bus near a police check-post in City Gate area. Police challenged him and recovered the gold bars from his possession.

In primary interrogation, Ranjit said he came to Bangladesh on November 25 and collected the gold bars from Chattogram's Hathazari area.

A case was filed against him in this connection, the OC said.
