Five arrested in Faridpur for robbery, kidnapping posing as RAB personnel
The suspects were initially caught and beaten by locals before being taken into custody by RAB

Members of RAB-10 have arrested five individuals in Faridpur's Nagarkanda upazila for robbing and abducting two gold traders while impersonating members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
RAB-10 Commander Additional DIG Mohammad Kamruzzaman disclosed the information at a press conference at the RAB Media Centre in the capital's Karwan Bazar this morning (29 July).
He said the victims, Joydev Adhya (53) and Bishwanath Adhya (57) from Satkhira, were returning home on the Tungipara Express after purchasing jewelry-making equipment from Tanti Bazar in Dhaka yesterday (28 July).
"Around 6pm, as their bus reached Joybangla intersection in Nagarkanda, a group posing as RAB officers stopped the bus, forcibly removed the brothers, blindfolded them, and took them away in a microbus. They were tortured and robbed of Tk2,700 and their equipment," said Mohammad Kamruzzaman.

Following the incident, a RAB-10 team conducted an immediate raid, arresting the five suspects and rescuing the victims unharmed.
The RAB officer said items seized from the suspects include fake RAB jackets and caps, handcuffs, walkie-talkies, a stun gun, a pistol-like gas light, and a microbus used in the crime.
The arrestees are Swapan Khan (45), Mintu Gazi (45), Md Saiful Islam (30), Md Jamil (32), and Didar (29).
Swapan Khan and Saiful Islam were initially caught and beaten by locals before being taken into custody by RAB.
RAB officials said the suspects have a long history of criminal activity, including involvement in murder, theft, robbery, and illegal arms cases.
