The Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested another officer of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) for his alleged involvement in leaking the question paper of a recruitment test held in May.

"Chandra Shekhar Halder alias Milton, an officer of the 31st BCS education cadre, was arrested from Dhaka on Sunday night," Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Tejgaon Division of DMP Md Shahadat Hossain Suma said on Monday.

"Several people arrested for question paper leaks of various government recruitment tests pointed to Milton regarding his involvement in the offence. Upon studying the information and further investigation, we found evidence of his involvement and finally took him into custody," said Md Shahadat.

DB officials said on 13 May, an examination was held to recruit people for 513 posts at the DSHE.

A candidate, one Suman Jowardar, was allegedly caught cheating during the exam at the Eden College centre, with answers to the MCQ questions written on the back of his admit card, and he was arrested.

On 14 May, a case was filed with Lalbagh Police Station for the offense.

Based on information given by Suman, police arrested Saiful Islam, an assistant teacher of mathematics at Khepupara Girls Secondary School.

As per information given by the two, law enforcement next arrested lecturer Rashedul of Patuakhali Government College, DSHE official Ahsan Habib, and office assistant Nowshad.

Given these developments, DSHE authorities cancelled the test within a week of the recruitment exam.

Detectives say Milton was the one who leaked the question paper to exam candidates using digital platforms like WhatsApp when he was in charge of coordinating with Eden College for that test.
