Crude bomb explodes near NCP office as multiple blast incidents hit Dhaka
Crude bomb explosions were reported in Banglamotor, Dhanmondi, Motijheel, Mohakhali and Karwan Bazar areas.
Crude bomb explosions were reported at multiple locations across Dhaka tonight amid the banned Awami League's announced "shutdown" programme, ahead of tomorrow's (17 November) verdict by the International Crimes Tribunal in the crimes against humanity case against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
A crude bomb exploded in front of the National Citizen Party (NCP) office in Dhaka's Banglamotor area around 9:40pm, police sources confirmed.
Earlier, around 9pm, two crude bombs went off in front of the residence of Syeda Rizwana Hasan, adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Ministry of Water Resources, on Central Road in Dhanmondi.
Rizwana confirmed the incident to the media. Witnesses said unidentified miscreants detonated the two devices and fled immediately.
Meanwhile, another crude bomb explosion occurred at the Motijheel T&T bus stand area.
In another incident, a crude bomb exploded at Amtali in the capital's Mohakhali area around 10pm.
Banani Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Russel Sarowar said unidentified individual hurled the bomb and escaped. A tea vendor who witnessed the incident told police the bomb appeared to have been thrown from the Mohakhali flyover.
Earlier, at around 7:40pm, two crude bombs exploded near the SAARC Fountain intersection in Karwan Bazar area, police said.
No injuries have been reported in these incidents so far.
