Clash over bathing in pond leaves 30 injured in Brahmanbaria
The confrontation involved chasing, counter-chasing, and throwing bricks and stones, turning the area into a battleground and spreading panic among the locals

At least 30 people were injured in a clash between two rival groups in Sarail Upazila of Brahmanbaria last night (17 October), with the fighting allegedly starting over an earlier incident involving some individuals bathing in a pond.
The clash, which took place between the residents of Chhoto Dewanpara and Haluapara areas, saw people from both sides use torches to light up the area as they engaged in battle with local weapons.
The names of the injured, who are receiving treatment at local hospitals, could not yet be confirmed.
Police and locals reported that the conflict originated yesterday afternoon when Taim, a resident of Haluapara, and his friends went to bathe in a pond in Chhoto Dewanpara. They were subsequently beaten by a group led by Chhoto Dewanpara residents Shakil and Shipon.
In retaliation, people from both areas gathered and engaged in clashes using local weapons. The confrontation involved chasing, counter-chasing, and throwing bricks and stones, turning the area into a battleground and spreading panic among the locals.
Sarail Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Mosarof Hossain confirmed that the two groups descended onto the streets and clashed using the light of torchlights.
Law enforcement managed to bring the situation under control after about an hour-long effort and that legal action is currently underway, he added.
