3 policemen injured by miscreants in Moheshkhali shooting

Three policemen have been injured when miscreants opened fire on a patrol team in Moheshkhali upazila of Cox's Bazar.
The attack occurred near the Mir Akhtar Company Bridge in Matarbari union around midnight on Wednesday (10 September), according to Moheshkhali police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Manjurul Haque.
The injured officers are the station's Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Selim Uddin, Constable Mohammad Sohel, and Constable Mohammad Masud. ASI Selim Uddin and Constable Sohel are in critical condition.
Quoting locals, OC Manjurul said, "Police learned that several armed suspects were gathering near the Mir Akhtar Company Bridge at night, possibly to commit a crime. When a police patrol arrived, the suspects tried to flee.
"While being chased, the miscreants suddenly opened fire on the policemen. The officers took a defensive position, and the attackers fled while continuing to shoot. Three policemen were injured."
He added, "The injured were rescued with help from locals and first taken to Badarkhali General Hospital in Chakaria upazila. The on-duty doctor then referred them to Chakaria Upazila Health Complex.
"As their injuries were serious, they were sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment."
OC Manjurul also said that police are conducting operations to identify and arrest those responsible.
Police sources added that preparations are underway for a joint combing operation involving the Navy, Coast Guard, and police.
