Courtroom chaos: Legal notice served for taking action against pro-BNP lawyers

A Supreme Court lawyer served legal notice to the Supreme Court registrar general and the High Court Division registrar asking them to take action against the pro-BNP lawyers who created chaos in the courtroom during the hearing of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's bail petition in a corruption case.

Advocate Rashida Chowdhury Nilu on Sunday sent the notice seeking necessary action against the pro-BNP lawyers within 24 hours.

The notice also stated that a writ petition will be filed seeking the High Court order regarding the issue if no action was taken within the stipulated time.

Earlier on December 5, the pro-BNP lawyers then started shouting and created chaotic situation in the courtroom. They chanted the slogan "We want justice," "Khaleda Zia has the right to get bail".

The chief justice, along with five other judges of the Appellate Division, left the courtroom.

After one and a half hours, the judges returned to the courtroom.

The pro-BNP lawyers did not leave the courtroom and shouting slogans, hampering court proceedings for about an hour.

After that the Chief Justice said, "There is a limit to everything. I have not seen such a situation in a courtroom before. This is unprecedented."

The court was unable to hear any other case afterwards because of chaos.
